Health Program (this is one of the main services that CCCSA is proud to provide and is well recognized)

CCCSA’s health offer women’s health educational programs (e.g. breast cancer awareness and cervical cancer screening programs) in the Calgary Chinese community, we have had direct and indirect contacts with around 15 thousand Chinese speaking population, including new Chinese immigrants, Chinese Canadians, Vietnamese through different program activities, such as health education workshops, interpretation services requested from new Chinese immigrants with different medical and health services needs, health display booths set up for delivering relevant health resources in public events.

CCCSA’s women health educational programs and services have been well received, being indicated by positive feedback from the program participants and other community organizations (e.g. The Adult Learning Department of the Calgary Public Library, the ESL Department of the Calgary Board Education, the Adult Learning Program of the YWCA and so forth).  These organizations wanted our health initiative to offer women’s health and cancer workshops, also at the request of the Chinese public to organize Chinese cancer patients’ support services.   There are also frequent public voices for resources to assist both Chinese immigrants and Chinese Canadian cancer patients so that they can obtain related information.  These include information on community and government health agencies that provides practical help in the course of facing cancer diagnosis, emotional management and treatment regime, and other concerns including finance, insurance, transportation and accommodation during cancer illness.

Health program is one of the community service programs in CCCSA, a non-profit organization.   We are proud to say that we are the first Chinese organization to have a community health educator who can provide women’s health education program in first language to the community.   CCCSA’s community services has begun since 1978 in Calgary, we provide services in different capacities, ranging from children tutorial classes to elderly services (e.g. legal services and social welfare services) in order to enable new immigrants and the Chinese Canadians, who have had language barriers and face adaptation difficulties to a new living environment in Canada.

While Health Program is the most visible, the following are also information sessions and workshops that CCCSA provides.
