CCCSA is pleased to announce that our Chinatown Safety Council has won the 2010 Crime Prevention Award from the
Alberta Solicitor General and Public Security.  The Chinatown Safety Council was formed to curb high crime rates in Chinatown.
Since it's establishment two years ago, criminal activity has decreased.  Our council has organized social activities to promote a
positive image of Chinatown and to deter negative activities from occurring in the community.

The council has launched safety audits, Chinatown clean-ups and graffiti removal project to name a few initiatives.
We hope that our efforts will lead to a vibrant and multicultural centre point for all Calgarians.

We thank the Community Life Improvement Council for their nomination and also many passionate organizations who have
shown their ongoing support with the Chinatown Safety Council through collaborative efforts and participation such as
Community Life Improvement Council, Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens Association, Sien Lok Society, Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre
and Calgary Chinese Merchants' Association.  We also want to thank City of Calgary business units with special recognition to Animal
and Bylaw Services and Calgary Police Service for their cooperation and focus in the Chinatown community.
