In order to promote social justice and access to justice within the Calgary Chinese community, CCCSA provides the following services for members of the general public:
Legal Information and Referrals:
Provide basic legal information and to make referrals to other organizations when necessary.
Commissioner for Oaths Services:
Affidavits and Statutory Declarations (a nominal fee may be required).
Free Evening Legal Outreach Clinic:
Twice a month, our Program collaborates with Calgary Legal Guidance to offer free and confidential legal advice to low-income Calgarians on a variety of legal issues. Clinics are held at CCCSA’s office, and are appointment only. This service is offered on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Follow-Up Legal Services:
Provide client advocacy and support for Calgary Legal Guidance clients.
Free Wills & Estates Document Drafting Services:
Provide free drafting services for Personal Directives, Enduring Powers of Attorney, and Wills for low-income seniors (ages 65+). Asset screening will be conducted for eligibility.
Legal Resources and Publications:
Publish newspaper articles and create webinars on different areas of law.
Free Legal Education Seminars:
Provide members of the general public with basic legal information on various areas of law, including family law, divorce, wills and estates. Please contact us for information on upcoming seminar dates.
Cantonese and Mandarin Radio Program:
CCCSA collaborates with Fairchild Radio FM 94.7 to deliver legal information on various areas of law. Our Cantonese radio program airs every first Friday of the month from 10:15am to 11:00am. The Mandarin radio program airs every second Saturday of the month from 11:30am to noon.
Provide opportunities for volunteers to serve the Chinese community in Calgary. Our goal is to help the Calgary Chinese community become more familiar with and knowledgeable about Canada’s legal system, legal terminology and procedures, and to keep them informed of legal resources and services available in Calgary.
